Job Description

Elite Senior Laptop Repair Technician (Tier 3) Temp to Perm

Youngsville, NC | Full-time, Monday to Friday | Hourly + uncapped bonus

Bring It Home

For years, difficult computer repairs were shipped overseas. The work left, the jobs left, and the craft went with them. We're bringing it back.

At PlanITROI, we're building the world's greatest computer repair and refurbishment facility in Youngsville, North Carolina. Every device you repair proves that U.S.-based technicians deliver the speed, quality, and value to win this work back and keep it.

About PlanITROI

Since 2001, PlanITROI has been an IT lifecycle services company for OEMs, retailers, enterprises, education, and SMB organizations. We run on one philosophy: reuse-as-intended-use. Retired IT still has value, so we reuse it before we recycle.

We turn returned, retired, and idle laptops, PCs, smartphones, and tablets into recertified, affordable technology, sold directly and through the largest retailers in the world. Our repair floor is where that value gets recovered.

The Role

Can-Do Attitude + Attitude of Gratitude + Team Player + Reliability + Wanting to build something bigger than yourself.

This is the highest technical tier on our Computer Repair Team. You'll take on the toughest diagnostics and board-level repairs, set the quality bar for the line, and coach the technicians around you.

The baseline is 22+ complete, quality repairs per day. You'll work mostly on laptops, along with all-in-ones, desktops, tablets, smartphones, servers, and Apple devices. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with a 90-day conversion.

Responsibilities

At the bench

• Run full hardware diagnostics to find the root cause of complex or intermittent failures, and order the right parts
• Perform motherboard diagnosis and board-level repair, including micro-soldering, power circuitry, and micro-component replacement
• Replace displays, keyboards, touchpads, palm rests, batteries, hinges, covers, speakers, and ports
• Build and configure high-priority client orders and custom setups

Across the team

• Sharing technical knowledge, troubleshooting methods, and repair practices with teammates
• Own configuration standards and quality benchmarks for the repair line
• Track repair yield, spot recurring failure patterns, and recommend process improvements
• Help build repair standards, workflows, and SOPs for the new repair floor
• Advise management on repair vs. as-is resale decisions based on device condition and repair cost
• Keep ERP records, repair notes, and inventory movement accurate

What You Bring

• 4+ years of high-production repair experience (or equivalent demonstrated skill), with laptops as your core
• Ability to complete 22+ quality repairs per day
• Board-level diagnostics and micro-soldering skills
• Strong knowledge of Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Apple models and OEM part numbers
• Experience across Apple and PC ecosystems, including enterprise and custom-configured devices
• Experience training or mentoring other technicians
• Consistent documentation habits and a clean, organized, safe workstation
• A personal repair toolkit or tools will be provided
• A collaborative approach and willingness to share knowledge with the team
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work at a bench for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Desktop, server, and smartphone repair experience
• BIOS recovery and BGA reflow
• A+, ACMT, or IPC certifications

What You Get
